2. Thermostat Settings Are Incorrect
Sometimes the issue is as simple as the thermostat being set incorrectly. It may be set to “Fan” mode instead of “Cool,” or the temperature setting is too high.
- Make sure the thermostat is set to “Cool” mode
- Lower the temperature by a few degrees
- If it’s a programmable thermostat, check for scheduled settings that might override manual changes
3. Dirty or Blocked Condenser Unit (Outdoor Unit)
If your outdoor AC unit (the condenser) is covered in dirt, leaves, or debris, it can’t release heat effectively — which means your system won’t cool your home.
- Turn off power to the unit
- Use a garden hose to gently wash away dirt from the fins
- Remove any leaves or debris around the unit
- Maintain at least 2 feet of clearance around it
4. Frozen Evaporator Coils
